Evidence-based recommendations on [18F]FDG PET/CT imaging in FUO in children and adults

UEMS EACCME has granted the accreditation of 4.5 CME credits for this event.

Fever of unknown origin (FUO) is a clinically challenging diagnostic problem in children and adults. Growing evidence has shown that [18F]FDG PET/CT is valuable in the diagnostic work-up of FUO since abnormal PET findings substantially increase the likelihood of achieving a definite diagnosis.

However, some differences in the definition of FUO, etiology, imaging evaluation and radiation sensitivity between the two populations (adult and pediatric) need to be considered.

Learning Objectives

Target Audience

This course aims to provide current evidence of the role of [18F]FDG PET/CT in FUO in children and adults for differential diagnosis, classification, treatment decision and monitoring as well as prognosis assessment. Case readings will provide a spectrum of [18F]FDG PET/CT findings in FUO in both populations.
